We have decided to shake things up again with our latest Unicorn Diaries! Since we think it’s super important to reflect on why you started in the horse world (and what keeps you motivated to stay in it – particularly if it’s a special 🦄!), we decided to create a ‘this is why I started’ series. The first one features Lauren Ransom, a dressage rider from Kent with an amazing story!
How did you get into horses?
I started riding when I was 10. When I was 11, I loaned my first pony, Classic, and my Mother wanted horse so that we could ride together. We ended up seeing an advert about a 13 month old filly on Facebook, and went to have a look.
When we got there, the filly was standing in the pouring rain and her rug was soaked. We fell in love with her, and felt sorry for her, so we brought her home.
When she was old enough, I backed her myself and as Bella was green, I was too nervous to jump her, so we practised more Dressage and we loved it so much that we haven’t stopped!
Who inspired your riding journey?
I knew nothing of the equestrian world when I started riding, aged 10. So I was just purely riding for fun, until I started to back Bella and focused more on Dressage. Then, with Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester being the big names in Dressage (as they still are), they became my inspirations. 
What’s your favourite part about being an equestrian?
My favourite part about being an equestrian is riding my mare that I have taught myself. She is so rewarding, even though it can be really difficult at times, she is amazing and she makes me so proud! 
We love the story of Lauren and Bella! Lauren is also one of our amazing ambassadors, and was one of the first to test ride our new range of shirts and tights (pictured below wearing the ‘Dancing Avocado’ Sport Shirt and ‘Ultimate Unicorn’ Riding Tights).
She had this to say:“I can not recommend the shirts enough! Fabulous colour, soft and breathable material and they looks so damn good! I’m a very self conscious young lady (I’m 19) but I really do feel comfortable and confident in this shirt. I can’t wait to get the others! The tights are also comfortable and soft, really lovely to ride in and look great out of the saddle too."
